Fire Alarms and the NFPA
The National Fire Protection Association Publishes Codes That Regulate Fire Alarm Installations
Fire Notification Systems (also known as “Fire Alarms”) have changed from a series of devices wired in a loop, to addressable, intelligent, notification devices that can locate the source of the alarm, before first responders even arrive.
The National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) publishes a list of codes and standards that are strictly devoted to preventing death, injury, and economic loss due to fire and electrical hazards.
NFPA 70 (The National Electrical Code) and NFPA 72 (The National Fire Alarm and Signaling Code) are comprised of codes, standards, and guidelines that regulate every aspect of a commercial fire alarm installation.
