Always Follow Directions

Don’t be afraid to call the manufacturer’s technical support!

It’s not enough to follow codes and standards. You are also responsible for reading and following the manufacturers instructions. Doing so will reduce problems that may arise when you find the installation is not proceeding as you expected.

Each manufacturer has specific installation procedures. Maybe the system needs more conductors, or different wiring paths. Perhaps the devices may not communicate to the control panel without additional modules. Never assume that everything is the same regardless of the manufacturer.

In most cases, following the directions provided by the company that makes the equipment, usually makes sense.
